A Culinary Journey

Pizzeria Portas provides excellent food and wine wrapped in the original story of the old town Split. Visiting our pizzeria is a journey through time. Through our food and ambiance, we want to tell a story. A story about the generations of people that lived, loved, and laughed under these stone walls, leaving us with rich material and cultural heritage.

We are a proud owner of the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence from 2015 till now, thanks to the kind words from our esteemed guests.

Taste the Tradition

At our restaurant, we serve Mediterranean cuisine with an emphasis on Italian food. The main ingredients that we use are quality flour, vegetables, olive oil and wine. As the first known Italian food writer Archestratus wrote in the 4th century BC, flavours should not be mask by spices and herbs. Therefore, we use fresh, seasonal ingredients and spices as the finale grand touch. Pizza from our oven with various options of toppings will satisfy everyone's appetite.

Feel the Atmosphere

Our family pizzeria with the friendly and cheerful staff has two dining areas. Our outdoor patio with a vine canopy will give you a phenomenal shade during warm summer days. The terrace has 40 seating areas and has a cozy and charming atmosphere. The restaurant lies in the heart of the Diocletian's Palace. Therefore, eating within the stone walls is an exquisite experience. Our interior, except for the dining area, has a broad collection of the photos of Split that preserve the beauty, simplicity, and joy of the Split life.

Through the Ports

Roman emperor Diocletian abdicated from the throne 1700 years ago, after which he retired in a palace in Split, which was built by his order. The choice of one person influenced the course of many, even today. Now, Split has a 38000 square meters big Palace that is the center of life in this unique city on the Adriatic coast. A large number of houses, stone entwined streets, and monuments from different times are evidence of the life that has been going on for centuries within the Palace walls.
